And what if I was serious, and it's not the put-your-mouth-on-the-button-and-blow-into-it method?
Well, I figured out how to do just that.
And, my left shoulder button is acting up- for the first time since February.
The flipnote I was working on when the L button almost completely gave up on me is dated 02/18/2013, or, February eighteenth, 2013. Nearly seven months since I've had to do it.
I suppose some of you would like to know how I did it, right?
Well, since my buttons are acting up again, I'll do a tutorial for you guys. ^-^
All you need is two qtips, or cotton swabs if that's what you call them xD, and your mouth (For a different reason than placing it on the button and blowing). Your DS, too xD
I'd say this will work on anything but the Lite, due to the Lite's shoulder button style being different. But it should work on the 3DS as well as the DSi and DSi XL. ^-^
Starting with this..
Now, if you look closely at the left shoulder button on my DSi, you'll see a bit of dirt, and a couple dents or chips. Don't worry about the dents or chips, if you have them. It's the dirt we're after here.
I couldn't have my camera zoom in enough to see the dirt without losing focus, but you see that light spot in the lower right of the button? That's a dent in my DSi, the light is shning off it. Don't worry about the dents, unless they're preventing you from using the buttons. ^-^
At this point, you want to take one of the ends on the qtip and rub the space between the button and the main body of the system, which is seen above.
Be forceful enough to get some of the dirt out, but not enough the bend the qtip or break it. Like so.
Crappy picture, I know. But I don't know if I can upload videos, and you'd hear the charm hitting the DSi and such. :/
For me, I was able to see a mark where the qtip rubbed the DSi, in the cotton of the qtip. Rub it back and forth a few times, then go around the whole button a couple times as well, and rub it like you just did with the gap. Do each side in turn, not the whole button at once.
If I remember corrrectly, this is where your mouth comes into play. xD
You want to put the other end of the qtip in your mouth, not soaking it in spit, just making it a bit damp xD

Now, with the damp qtip, rub the gap between the button and the main body of the system, like you did at the beginning.
As with before, you want to go all the way around the button again. ^-^ No picture this time, as it's just going to be very similar to one of the steps above, the one that we're redoing, but with a damp qtip.
This time, you want to take the other qtip and repeat those last two steps, but with it dry this time.
Repeatthe steps with the damp qtip again, but with the other end of the second qtip and then dry it with the opposite end, the one used a step before this one.
Try your button now.
If you did it right, it should be working fine now. ^-^
It may not work if your buttons are screwed up too bad, but my button flickers something terrible, or even just quits, when it decides to crap out on me.
But if it did work, like it should, then it should keep them running for a few months. ^-^ As I did this, I was actually fixing my own, if you didn't realize.
The button is currently working like new.
Using the standard "Put your mouth on the button and blow into it" method only harms the contacts of your buttons- don't do it, it just makes them worse.
Blowing on the buttons will cause your saliva to go into the sytstem, and may harm your system, even destroying your button. That's my theory.
I suppose you're asking "Well, Comet, you just used spit to fix it, though!", right?
I think that using the qtip, and not using an excessive amount of saliva, you're only getting the outer area of the button, not the internal parts, the parts making the system tick. And, blowing directly into the button seems to fix it for only a couple minutes, from my experience with that method (I did try it. I gave up after one or two tries, however).
This method I just explained above, kept my buttons working for nearly seven months, and only August did it start flickering, and it was a slow flicker, only acting up every so often.
But yeah. ^-^ Those of you who have issues with your DS shoulder buttons, and still use it, you guys should find this useful.
It should work, from my experience. If it doesn't, you may have been too light with the pressure. Try it again if it doesn't, and press a bit harder with the qtip. If you think you were pressing too hard to begin with, then lighten the pressure.

I'm trying to get Kayla to notice 'Numa numa yey. Numa numa numa yey.' in a note on dA, and it's in tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny letters xDD She doesn't seem to notice, even though she can see it, along with the coding I used to make it small.
Still not noticing.. //waits//

On a seperate note, there's like an art stealing site.
Less than a minute after getting there, I had an attack blocked by the norton, along with a popup, and two pop-behinds.
If you search something, it steals it.

To be honest, that totorial thingy is kinda annoying at the moment.
Ah well. Tomorrow I won't have to worry about it getting in my way during editing, because I'll be starting a new entry anyway. ^-^

She was doing one with me that was one of my first ones to do, one with Song in it.. ;-; Maybe she'll join dA sometime..
I haven't started a role play on RES in a while, I kinda want to do one just for the sake of it.
I just had a minor fangirl moment for no reason xD
